Snooker club's fate still not known
A DECISION will be made on the opening hours of a snooker club that serves alcohol later than anywhere else in Wycombe over the next few days.
A licensing meeting at Wycombe District Council heard from residents of the Bankside development of flats in Corporation Street this morning.
They want the club, which closes at 6am on Thursday to Saturday nights, to cut its hours back.
They say that drunken comings and goings at the club have caused them to lose sleep and are making their lives a misery, and reported hearing fighting and anti-social behaviour.
Gavin Tressider, owner of the venue in Corporation Street, said the a cut in hours would be "disastrous" to the Hurricane Room.
He explained that many of the people who frequent the club did not finish work until 2am.
He told the panel: "The nature of our business is that we have always traded long hours."
The panel has powers which include changing the opening hours, removing a licensed activity and revoking the licence.
Residents' spokesman Mike Kirkwood, 42, was optimistic after the meeting.
He said: "At least good communication is being built up between the residents and the Hurricane Room."
The decision is expected within the next week.

BFP get your facts right it is a POOL CLUB OR DO U THINK THAT SNOOKER SOUNDS BETTER?
Also I find your report on the matter to be completely one way.

I hope the right decision is made here and the hurricane room does not have to cut their hours. The anti social behaviour could be coming from a number of places and I dont think can all be attributed to the hurricane room. Surely some of these people actually want to play pool rather than get drunk anyway. This is a comment that has been made already but I really cant understand why the residents didnt take the fact that they would be living close to the pool hall and in the town centre where there is likely to be noise into consideration when they bought their properties.

6am may seem ridiculous to you, but if you worked unsocial hours it may provide the only place open to have a drink and a game of pool when you finish. Likewise for someone working nights they could complain about noise caused at midday from a school, shopping center or any other type of establishment that is busy and potentially noisy during the day, would it be right that they would have to close?

I would have seriously considering this fact before buying property in the middle of a town centre that is generally noisey every night of the week end, and not just from the pool place. It has been there for some time now and the flats have not, so maybe some consideration should be given to this factor. ANd i agree with previous comments that peoeple go there after they finish work and why should they lose out. These people that live in these flats would still complain if the place closed at two or three, as we all know when you get woken the amount of noise always seems worse at night!! I really think they should have put some more research in before buying. No good complaining now,

Plus there is a Buzzer on the door so if they don't look the like of them on the camera they don't get admitted, you must be thinking of obessions or what ever it's called these days!
