Lambert: We've got them rattled

WANDERERS boss Paul Lambert heads for Stockport today saying: "We've got them rattled."

He says County boss Jim Gannon's comments and mind games proves that his opposite number is worried about tomorrow's big match (ko 6pm).

Lambert said: "I saw his quotes after the first game about wanting protection from the referee and right away I thought we've got him rattled.

"Him and his assistant tried to get Tommy Doherty sent off and you don't do that.

"My team were not out of order. "It is a physical game and Stockport gave as good as they got.

"The Stockport players were good lads after the game. They have got a bit of dignity about them, I don't think the manager has, but their lads are fine and we will give everyone there the respect they deserve.

"Their players aren't going with what he says and if your players aren't going with what you say then there is something wrong between the player and the manager."

Gannon has also criticised Wanderers' youth policy and has previously criticised Wanderers' tactics.

But it is water off a duck's back to Lambert.

He said: "I don't think you can say things like that. He must have some opinion of himself.

"When you've been a manager in the Premiership like Alex Ferguson, Harry Redknapp or Mourinho then you can criticise.

"If they had something to say to me I'd take notice but not someone in the same league as me.

"If you want to criticise you should make sure you have done something yourself as a manager."

He is quite happy that Gannon has stirred up a pre-match sideshow and created some needle.

He said: "I can't wait to go up there.

"I want it for the players and the club. It doesn't bother me whether we put one over Jim Gannon. I just want it for the football club.

"I am as confident now as I was before the home leg. The pressure has shifted now. The onus is on them to win now they're at home and that suits us.

"There is a chance for someone to be a real hero.

"That is the nature of a game like this one. It makes people heroes and villains."
