Farm owner to be sentenced today

A FARM owner who was found guilty of assaulting a police officer will learn his fate later today.

James Gray, 44, is due to appear at Aylesbury Magistrates Court to be sentenced after being found guilty of assaulting PC James Metcalf.

The assault took place during a search of his property at Spindles Farm, Hyde Heath, by police and the RSPCA on January 9 after 32 horses, donkeys and ponies were found dead there.

Gray failed to show at court for the trial on Tuesday May 6, but he was found guilty in his absence.

The maximum sentence for assaulting a police officer is six months' imprisonment.
