Notorious ex-residents to be honoured
A HERITAGE plaque is to be unveiled to honour some of High Wycombe's most notorious former residents next week.
The Mitford sisters are to be honoured with a plaque at Old Mill Cottage in Bassetsbury Lane - a former country home of the family at the turn of the last century.
The plaque is due to be unveiled next Tuesday by the Chairman of Wycombe District Council, Roger Wilson, and the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire.
There were six daughters and one son in the family, but two family members gained notoriety because of their close links to Fascism in the 1930s.
One of them, Diana, and married Sir Oswald Mosley, the leader of the British Union of Fascists.
And another, Unity, was reportedly very close to Adolf Hitler.
The Fuhrer told newspapers in Germany that Unity was "a perfect specimen of Aryan womanhood".

When I read the words “A HERITAGE plaque is to be unveiled to honour some of High Wycombe's most notorious former residents next week.” for a moment I thought they were going to put the plaque on my house....

Once again BFP gets the wording all wrong.
The plaque is being erected purely for Heritage purposes, so local historians and visitors alike can learn something of our town's history.
The plaque in no way honours or celebrates the lives of these people!
Come on senior execs at Newsquest, why are you letting your editorial staff get away with this daft reporting?
