Mobile skatepark for youths this summer

A MOBILE skatepark will be rolled-out in Wooburn Green to occupy youngsters in the school holidays.

It is hoped the facilities will be installed in Wooburn Park, off Town Lane, on six days during the summer break in August and early September.

A similar scheme was held last year and hailed as a huge success by Wooburn and Bourne End Parish Council, which organises the mobile skatepark.

At last night's council meeting it was agreed that £8,000 should be released from the youth budget, although it is not expected to cost that much.

Councillor Margaret Marshall, who is a member of the council's youth working party, said: "If anyone attended the event last year they would have seen it was extremely well received. There were no complaints from neighbours. It is such a positive event.

"We desperately want to provide facilities for the youth in the area."

The exact dates have not been set as it depends on the availability of some of the council staff.

But once the dates are agreed, flyers will be sent to schools in the area and put in shops and on notice boards in the parish.

Cllr Gillian White said: "There were no complaints from anyone, just positivity all the way.

"There were young children and youths of 16 and 15 skateboarding and BMXing together and there was no arguments or fighting.

"And everyone was so positive and we really need to keep doing these positive things."

I wonder how long it will be before the skate park is trashed by the youngsters like the one in Wycombe?

Gawd Ivor you are such a moaner.

I hope the council has adequate INSURANCE too make this possible, the youth shouldn't be disappointed again.

It was only last year that Wycombe District Council vetoed any hope of a Xmas skating rink in Frogmore on health and safety grounds that included insurance.

I hope the council do not proceed down a path that was thought unsafe when private enterprise was involved.

IVOR, WYCOMBE's YOUTH ARE NOT ALL CRIMINALS.

It was ADULTS that took us into two unnecessary war zones unprepared.

why would you send flyers to schools when the schools are shut for the holidays, doh! seems a shame that its only up for 6 days when the holidays last for weeks and weeks.
