A FRENCH teacher accused of calling pupils "thick" in an internet blog has resigned from her post at Chesham High School.

The resignation comes after controversy surrounded an internet blog by Julie Bois who taught languages at the grammar school in White Hill.

Buckinghamshire County Council confirmed that Miss Bois had resigned but went on to say that it would not be releasing any kind of statement about the resignation as it was a matter for the school and governors. In the online diary called "Miss Frenchie's World" Miss Bois said she hated shaking the hands of parents who she described as "wet and flabby" as well as poking fun at some of the pupils who had failed exams.

One comment said: "Parents evening are a real killer... I hate having to shake all those hands."

Other shocking entries also suggested that some Chesham High youngsters even deserved a slap and described them using obscene language.

In another entry to the blog the teacher said: "Even if kids can be a real pain in the neck they still manage to make me laugh with their stupidity."

The insults in the blog were first revealed after tabloid newspaper The Sun broke the story in June. At the height of the controversy, headteacher of the school Tim Andrew said: "The school is aware of the article in The Sun which alleges that a member of our staff has been maintaining a blog that contains inappropriate comments about our pupils.

"The school is taking the allegation extremely seriously since the views expressed do not in any way represent what the school stands for. The school is therefore looking urgently into the details of the allegation and we are unable to comment further."

No one from the school was available for comment as we went to press.
