DAD CONFESSES TO TV DIY PASTING

DAD David Carrod has confessed he was responsible for setting up his daughter on national TV as a DIY cheat.

Mr Carrod, 49, described how he contacted the BBC's Confessions programme to tell how his daughter Leanne,17, used free wallpaper samples to decorate her lounge. The show was screened last Friday night.

Mr Carrod, a management consultant of Nicholas Gardens, High Wycombe, explained: "When I found out the programme would be featuring DIY confessions, I told them about Leanne and her boyfriend Tom, and how they used free samples to create a border around their lounge."

The couple made ten trips to a DIY superstore to collect enough free samples to decorate their flat at Simmons Road, Lane End.

Mr Carrod added: "To get them to go to the studios, I told them I had stitched up my son Steven, so they thought they were going to have a good laugh at his expense."

But the pasting tables were turned during the show when Leanne and Tom had to confess.

Miss Carrod, an A-level student at Wycombe High School, Marlow Hill, said: "My friends think it's hysterical that I was dropped in it because I've got a bit of a reputation as a practical joker myself."

Her boyfriend Tom Lipinski, 17, an A-level student at John Hampden Grammar School, Marlow Hill, said: "We only realised we'd been dropped in it at the very last minute, when the camera was on us. Leanne was well embarrassed and I put my hands over my face."

A spokesman for Confessions said: "Leanne and Tom were great sports about the whole thing."
