MISFORTUNE struck the Wycombe Charity Carnival as Mayor Ellen Hall's Rolls-Royce overheated on the way to the event forcing her to travel in a police Land Rover.
The vintage Rolls, which had been loaned free of charge by a member of the public, broke down in the carnival procession in Easton Street as it made its way towards The Rye, High Wycombe.
Thousands of people went to the Carnival on Sunday.
One of the most popular events was the dog-handling show which featured animals from the Cippenham Dog Training Club hurdling fences and running through tunnels.
Other attractions included vintage motorcycles and the Caribbean Sunrise Band.
Organiser Anthi Emery said that approximately 5,000 people turned up and she hopes to raise about £2,000 for the British Diabetics Association, the High Wycombe Mayor's Appeal, Save the Children, and the High Wycombe Lions.
She said: "Not only are we raising money for charity, but it's just a great day out for the whole family."
Charlotte Pettet, seven, said: "My favourite part of the day was face painting, but I also liked it when the dogs were chasing around the obstacle course."
